The walk from San Josecito Beach to Guaria
All entrance routes to Guaria de Osa weather from Sierpe or Drake Bay arrive at Playa San Josecito, a sheltered cove and paradise beach safe for docking and snorkeling. From here it is a casual 20 to 30-minute walk to Guaria, unless you get side tracked by the Scarlet Macaws or White Faced Monkeys that are commonly seen! Another 500 yards along our beloved beach, Playa Rincón de San Josecito, just past the first mangrove patch and stream, you’ll see our sign. Follow the boardwalk in and you've made it to Guaria de Osa!
Note: Since the last leg of the journey is by foot we suggest you bring a backpack and pack light. If needed porter services for your belongings are available, this way all you carry in is your daypack!! Please specify in the registration form and see what to bring for a list of recommended items.
Note: During group journeys or scheduled excursions all luggage and supplies are brought in by boat directly to Guaria. Depending on the tidal and ocean conditions we land the boat up onto the beach just in front of the lodge. This is convenient for bringing in the luggage and supplies but a bit jolting for visiting guests. Supplies and luggage are also brought in from San Josecito beach by horse. Please be sure to specify your entry options on the registration form.
